As many as 2,200 motorbikes and cars were burnt down in a fire at a parking lot in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6.


Locals discovered the blaze in the parking lot on Hiep Binh Street, Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward at around 1.30 pm, which quickly spread out.

After being informed of the blaze, the Thu Duc City Fire and Rescue Police Department immediately dispatched tens of vehicles and over 140 firefighters to the scene.

The fire, which spread some area of 1,000 square metres, was completely brought under control after about an hour.

There were no injuries reported in the incident, but 2,244 motorbikes and 10 cars were burned down.

The 3,000-square-metre parking lot is used for parking vehicles related to traffic rule violations and other exhibits.

Police are further investigating the cause of the fire.
