The remaining traffic safety violations mainly included driving without helmets (45,393 cases), invalid civil liability insurance for car owners (19,498 cases) and breaking speed limits (10,137 cases).
During the general check launched on July 15 on coaches, container trucks, cars and other vehicles, traffic police across the country stopped and checked 344,930 vehicles, resulting in more than 147,800 drivers being fined for violating traffic laws, Thanh Nien newspaper reported.
Some 15,750 coaches, 11,730 container trucks and 120,320 motorbikes were reportedly caught violating traffic laws.
Based on traffic offences, the traffic police revoked the driving licenses of some 10,000 drivers, detained 22,000 vehicles and imposed fines totaling VND70 billion.
Traffic police penalized 6,424 drivers and 74 others for driving under the influence, respectively. SGT
