A total of 1,752 temporary and dilapidated homes were replaced between February 14 and 21, bringing the total number nationwide to 107,941, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

Of these, 61,496 new homes have been inaugurated, while construction is underway on 46,445 others. Housing support for people with meritorious service to the nation accounts for 9,187 homes, with 3,928 completed and 5,259 under construction.

Under the nationwide initiative to eradicate makeshift houses, 49,322 homes have received support, including 26,630 completed and 22,692 under construction. The remainders fall under other National Target Programmes.

As of February 21, 58 out of 63 provinces and cities have established provincial steering committees to oversee the initiative. Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau were exempt as they no longer have substandard houses.

At the district level, 603 out of 608 committees have been set up. Meanwhile, 8,488 out of 8,890 commune-level committees have been formed.

Regarding legal frameworks, 51 provinces have issued regulations for implementation. Housing support plans have been approved in 42 provinces, while 15 others are still in progress.

Currently, 59 provinces have issued implementation plans, with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, and Vinh Phuc exempt due to the absence of makeshift houses./.VNA
