The construction of a system supplying electricity for the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant, the first of its kind in Vietnam, began in central Ninh Thuan province on December 12.

The facility includes a 13.63km long 110kV power line and a transformer station, according to Director General of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Pham Le Thanh.

Its contractors are Song Da 11–Thang Long and Song Da Someco Joint Stock Companies.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said the development of nuclear power is significant in ensuring energy security, environmental protection, and increasing potential for science-technology.

He asked the EVN to work with contractors and local authorities to ensure stable electricity provision for the nuclear power plant.
