VietNamNet Bridge - From the evening of October 1, all trains from the Hanoi Railway Station to the southern provinces will be cancelled because the railway crossing Hoang Mai commune of Nghe An province is totally inundated.
Mr. Phung Ly Ha, vice chief of the Hanoi Railway Station said that all trains to the south last night were cancelled, including the SE1 (departs at 7pm), SE19 (7.35pm), NA1 (9.30pm) and SE3 (11pm).
The Hanoi Railway Station suggested passengers to come to the station to change tickets or to be refunded within five days.
Mr. Pham Van Binh, head of the railway traffic safety of the Vietnam Railways Corporation, said that the railway through Hoang Mai is still flooded after a reservoir discharged water. Some sections are submerged 2m deep.
At the center of the flooded region, two trains are still stuck. Passengers cannot move to other means of transport. Until last night, the passengers were still on board and provided with food available on the trains.
Binh said that if flood prolongs, the railway management agency would ask the National Search and Rescue Committee to supply food to the passengers by helicopters.
With trains from the South to the North, Binh said that they will have to stop at the Vinh Railway Station in Nghe An province.
