On January 15, Ho Chi Minh City Public Security Bureau announced the results of the month for attacking crime in the area. Chief of the HCM City Police Office, Colonel Le Anh Tuan said the one-month anti-crime campaign achieved very good performance.
Specifically, in one month, the police dismantled 73 gangs, arrested 193 dangerous offenders and seized the largest-ever volume of weapons of all kinds.
Colonel Tuan said that 34 police groups (in the form of Hanoi’s 141 task-force) have patrolled and controlled complicated areas and 14 key routes in District 5, 6, 8, Thu Duc, Binh Tan, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and Nha Be.
According to Tuan, the deployment of this force has created a stable social situation, stopped crime, especially street robbery. "This is the force that we have prepared for years to use now," Tuan added.
It is proven that when various forces joined hands to attack crime, street criminals have been significantly curbed. At present, HCM City mobilizes mobile police, 141, criminal police, district police, mobile police of the Ministry of Public Security and even the military to patrol the streets 14/7, particularly the key areas, such as: the National University Village area (adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Binh Duong), the route of smuggling from Tay Ninh and Long An to Ho Chi Minh City.
In the coming time, the HCM City Police will set up joint patrol teams of the military, the police and commune-ward authorities.
During the anti-crime month, Ho Chi Minh City police noted 552 criminal cases, down by 78 cases over the previous month, or 12.38 percent.
