Nick Kergozou continues his winning streak, taking Stage 12 of the 2025 HTV Cycling Cup from Quang Ngai to Quy Nhon, covering a distance of 179 km.
The stage was action-packed from the outset, with around 10 cyclists from teams including Military Zone 7, Ho Chi Minh City New Group, Hanoi, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Dong Thap successfully breaking away. Nguyen Huynh Lan (Military Zone 7) won Sprint 1 and 3, while Nguyen Truc Xinh (Ho Chi Minh City New Group) claimed Sprint 2. At one point, this duo pulled ahead by more than three minutes from the yellow jersey group.
However, in the final phase, strong coordination between Loc Troi Group - An Giang and 620 Agriculture - Vinh Long allowed the peloton to catch up to the breakaway with 13 km remaining. Riders from team 620 pushed the pace to set up a perfect lead-out for the "sprint king" Nick Kergozou.
Living up to expectations, the New Zealand cyclist once again showcased his dominance in the final sprint, crossing the finish line first in Quy Nhon. This marks his seventh stage victory, further solidifying his grip on the green jersey. In addition, Kergozou received a record bonus of over USD 6,000 for his performance.
After Stage 12, there were no changes in the other classifications. Mikhail Fokin (Loc Troi Group - An Giang) retained both the yellow and polka-dot jerseys, while Le Ngoc Son kept the orange jersey, and Pham Le Xuan Loc remained in the white jersey.
Stage 13 of the HTV Cycling Cup - Ton Dong A 2025 will run from Quy Nhon to Pleiku (Gia Lai), covering 166 km and featuring the challenging An Khe and Mang Yang mountain passes. The stage is scheduled for April 17.
