On the evening of January 27 (28th day of the lunar calendar), Nguyen Hue Flower Street officially opened to the public, marking the beginning of Tet 2025 celebrations.
This year’s theme, “Magnificent country, peaceful spring", highlights Vietnam's cultural richness and aspirations.
A celebration of unity and development
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Central Party and Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee; and other key officials from central and local government agencies.
The flower street is divided into three segments: Unity, Transformation, and Development. These sections narrate the journey of the Vietnamese nation through intricate floral arrangements and creative installations.
The centerpiece is the grand pair of snake mascots, Kim Ty (golden snake) and Ngan Ty (silver snake), at the entrance gate, symbolizing the zodiac year of the Snake.
At the street’s end stands the 50-meter-long, 10-meter-tall Lady Snake, adorned with southern-inspired details like a khan ran scarf and a conical hat.
Over 90 snake-themed sculptures, each showcasing unique expressions and designs, add vibrancy to the display.
A cultural highlight for Ho Chi Minh City
Since its first appearance in 2004, Nguyen Hue Flower Street has become a cherished cultural hallmark of Ho Chi Minh City during Tet. Crowds gathered immediately after the opening, with many capturing memories alongside the striking Kim Ty and Ngan Ty mascots.
The flower street will be open to residents and tourists from 7 PM on January 27 until 9 PM on February 2 (the 5th day of the lunar calendar). This annual attraction continues to celebrate the festive spirit, offering a unique experience for visitors.
