On January 23, the 13th Party Central Committee convened to address several critical matters, including electing a new member to the Politburo and restructuring the leadership of the Central Inspection Committee.

The Committee approved the resignation of Tran Cam Tu, Politburo Member and Standing Secretary of the Secretariat, from his roles as member and Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee.

Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the Party Central Office, was elected as the new Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee.

Additionally, he was elected as a member of the Politburo.

The Central Inspection Committee

The restructured Central Inspection Committee for the 13th term now consists of 23 members, with Nguyen Duy Ngoc serving as Chairman.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee is Tran Van Ron, a Party Central Committee member.

The committee also includes eight deputy chairpersons: Tran Tien Hung, Hoang Van Tra, Nghiem Phu Cuong, Nguyen Minh Quang, Tran Thi Hien, Hoang Trong Hung, Nguyen Van Quyet, and Vu Hong Van.

The Central Inspection Committee is a specialized body under the Party Central Committee responsible for oversight, discipline, and inspection within the Party. Its duties include investigating violations, supervising asset declarations, and recommending disciplinary actions for Party members and organizations.

It also plays a pivotal role in monitoring and addressing issues related to corruption, economic misconduct, and other cases under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption.

Background of Nguyen Duy Ngoc

Nguyen Duy Ngoc was born in 1964 in Luong Bang Town, Kim Dong District, Hung Yen Province.

He holds a master’s degree in law and has an extensive career in law enforcement.

Key positions he has held include:

Deputy Director of the Hanoi Police Department.

Deputy Director General of the General Department of Police.

Director of the Police Department for Corruption, Economic, and Smuggling Crimes.

Deputy Minister of Public Security (appointed August 15, 2019), holding this role for nearly five years.

Promoted to the rank of Senior Lieutenant General in December 2023.

In June 2024, the Politburo assigned him as Chief of the Party Central Office.

In August 2024, he was elected to the Secretariat of the 13th Party Central Committee.
