These figures were all up 72 in the number of cases, including six fatalities and 60 in the number of the injurie compared to the same period from last year.

Road traffic made up the majority of the accidents with 152 cases out of 155, killing 54 people and injuring 130 people, whilst the remaining three cases were blamed on rail transport resulting in two deaths.

Also, from December 30 to January 1, traffic police officers handled a total of 25,598 violations, giving out fines totaling VND58.17 billion, revoking licenses of 5,269 drivers, and impounding more than 10,000 vehicles.

Drunk driving accounted for 7,570 cases, thereby rising by 71% on-year and speeding for 5,103.
