VietNamNet Bridge – A selection of paintings and artefacts by Vietnamese and foreign artists that the HCM City Fine Arts Museum has collected between 2011 and 2012 is now on display at a special exhibition.

Ma Thanh Cao, the museum's director, said they collected 310 items in 2011 and 2012, including 55 donated by artists or their families.

Of these, 165 paintings, artefacts and sketches that reflect the history and development of Vietnamese art from the 20th century to the present were on display now, she added.

The selection includes a collection of propaganda paintings done during the wars against French and Americans, a collection of portraits of Vietnamese heroic mothers by Dang Ai Viet, and paintings by other famous Vietnamese and foreign artists like Le Ba Dang and Boris Simionovich Iliukhin.

The exhibition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the museum. It will remain open until May 15 next year at 97A Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1.
