The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Director of the Vietnam Naval Academy Nguyen Dinh Giang.
Welcoming the vessel’s goodwill visit, Lieutenant Colonel Shahairil haji Mohd Shahlan, the RBN’s Commanding Officer of the Maintenance Department, expressed his belief that the visit and exchange programme would be a great success, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the cooperative relationship between the Royal Brunei Navy and the Vietnam People’s Navy.
Colonel Giang for his part said the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam People’s Navy and the Royal Brunei Navy has developed positively in recent times. The visit by Sailing Vessel Le Quy Don is a testament to the friendship between the two peoples in general and the two navies in particular, stressed the officer.
The commanders of the two navies signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation, including establishing a hotline between the two sides. They also supported and assisted each other at regional conferences.
Colonel Giang expressed his belief that, on the basis of good relations, mutual understanding and trust, cooperation between the two navies would reap greater results, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in the region and world.
