The 10th edition of the tournament features a total of nine national women’s football teams from across Southeast Asian. The competition will be held in Chonburi, Thailand, from August 15 to August 27.
The national team will compete in Group B alongside Myanmar, Indonesia, and Cambodia. Group A consists of Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Timor-Leste, and the host nation, Thailand.
Previously members of the Vietnamese women’s squad took part in a training camp held in Fukushima, Japan. They played three warm-up fixtures, including one against a side from the J-League who have a number of international Japanese players in their squad.
After the conclusion of the AFF Women’s Championship 2019, the national team will participate in another training camp abroad ahead of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games later in the year.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung has chosen 23 footballers to take part in the tournament in Thailand, with the aim of enjoying a good performance. At the previous AFF Women’s Championship in 2018 the Vietnamese women’s team finished third.
The Vietnamese women’s team will take on Cambodia in their opening match of the tournament in Chonburi, Thailand, on August 16. VOV
