According to Thuy, the outfit was designed by Nguyen Viet Hung and it draws inspiration from the image of the Nghe, a sacred and mythical animal in Vietnamese traditional culture.

One notable feature of the dress is the image of Nghe which has been created in 3D on the shoulder.

Other accessories included in the costume are a scepter that features the head of the Nghe, as well as the headdress which is stylized by the image of a phoenix and the sun. The unique outfit is expected to help Thuy achieve strong result at the competition.

Doan Thu Thuy, 28, hails from the northern province of Phu Tho and was crowned 2022 Miss Fitness Vietnam during its grand final which was held in Ho Chi Minh City last year.

She stands at 1.73 metres tall, weighs 56kg with body measurement of 85-62-95, and now works as a model and a fitness coach.

The Miss Global pageant was first held back in 2013. It is the pageant with the widest age range in the world, with entrants able to be between 18 and 35 years old.

This year marks the 10th edition of the beauty contest and will draw the participation of 80 contestants worldwide. The grand final will get underway on January 18 in Cambodia.

Vietnamese representative Nguyen Thi My Duyen finished in the Top 11 back in Miss Global 2019. Last year local beauty Doan Thi Hong Trang failed to win any prize during the pageant.
