Nam meets Marcondes in Belgian Junior Championships
Vietnamese player Ly Hoang Nam will face Ribeiro Marcondes of Brazil on May 27 in the first round of the 50th Astrid Bowl Charleroi, Belgian International Junior Championships.
Nam is the only player from Southeast Asia at the Centre de Delassement de Charleroi-Marcinelle.
The clay court tournament, which ends on May 31, will have both singles and doubles events for boys and girls.
It is an important warm-up for Nam in preparation for the French Open junior competition. The Vietnamese champion, who is World No 64, will start with the French Open qualifying round which begins on June 1.
Nhan wins stage, Tam keeps yellow jersey
Tran Nguyen Duy Nhan passed yellow jersey holder Ha Thanh Tam to win the eighth stage of the Return to Countryside cycling tournament yesterday.
Nhan of Military Zone 7 was the only cyclist to win a stage after Tam from Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang Rice, who set up his domination with seven wins in a row.
The soldier completed the 92km race from Ha Tien Town to Chau Doc City in 2hr 24.35min.
Tam came second just a hair's gap later. Nguyen Huu Tien of Vinh Long was third.
Tam, however, remains on top of the ranking table with the yellow jersey, clocking 19:45.08. Nhan is second, followed by Phan Hoang Thai from Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap.
In the team table, Military Zone 7 rank first, followed by An Giang and HCM City.
The annual event will wrap up today as riders travel 57.5km from Tan Chau Town to Phu Tan District.
