According to HCM City Police, the man appeared with a knife in his hand at 9.30 am. He first walked into a cafe at 108 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street and chased people there. Luckily all the people in the cafe managed to flee.

The man then ran out onto the street and attacked people and then he stabbed himself.

Two people were badly injured and had been taken to hospital. The man had died from serious injuries.

A witness, Nguyen Thanh, 60, said that he and his 44-year-old son were selling lottery tickets when they saw the naked man holding a knife.

"It looked like he had just used drugs," Thanh said. "I told my son to quickly run. The man chased after my son and stabbed him in his head and arms but no one dared to come and stop him. When he ran away, I asked a motorbike taxi driver to take my son to hospital."

The man then stabbed and injured an 80-year-old woman who was sitting by a street-side food stall before killing himself with the knife.

Police are investigating the case.
