VietNamNet Bridge – Deputies will review Government and ministry activities at the 21st session of the National Assembly Standing Committee, which began yesterday, Sept 9.

Yesterday, deputies discussed amendments to several articles that aim to improve military and police buildings.

The two-week session will focus on preparing for the National Assembly (NA)'s upcoming sixth session. Topics will include the country's recent socio-economic development, the draft of the revised 1992 Constitution and the revised Land Law, said NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung at the opening ceremony.

The draft of the revised 1992 Constitution and the revised Land Law will be discussed for a final time before being submitted to the NA for approval in October.

Hung added that the NA's sixth session would be an important one, as the legislative body planned to review the mid-term results of the country's socio-economic situation and go over the Government, ministries, sectors' activities and orientation for upcoming years.

Specific topics include anti-corruption measures, health insurance reports and the results of confidence votes in the NA and People's Councils.

Deputies will also discuss revised laws concerning marriage and family, health insurance, bankruptcy, environmental protection, construction, immigration, residence in Viet Nam, waste and public investment.

Yesterday, deputies discussed amendments to several articles that aim to improve military and police buildings.

The Standing Committee will soon discuss the draft Law on Immigration, Migration and Residence of Foreigners in Viet Nam and amendments to several articles in the Law on Marriage and Family.
