Digital Television VTC and VOVTV stopped operations at midnight on January 15, ending the production and transmission of their programming across all broadcasting platforms, including FPT Play.

Thirteen channels under the VTC brand have ceased broadcasting, including VTC1 HD, VTC2, VTC3 HD, VTC4 HD, VTC5 HD, VTC6 HD, VTC7 HD, VTC8, VTC9 HD, VTC10 HD, VTC11, VTC14 HD, and VTC16 HD. The functions and responsibilities of VTC have been officially transferred to Vietnam Television (VTV).

Nhan Dan Television also halted operations at midnight on January 15, following the earlier cessation of programming by National Assembly TV and News Agency TV earlier in January 2025.

Legacy and milestones of the discontinued channels

Digital Television VTC was established on August 19, 2004, as an initiative to explore and implement digital broadcasting technologies. In 2015, VTC was transferred under the management of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV). VOVTV, which began operations in 2008, served as a critical channel for the dissemination of news and cultural content.

Nhan Dan Television, founded in 2015, played an essential role in broadcasting news and editorial content reflecting the perspectives of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

National Assembly TV began test broadcasts in October 2014 before officially launching in January 2015. It specialized in delivering information about the National Assembly and the activities of the Party and State to audiences nationwide.

The cessation of these channels marks a significant restructuring in Vietnam's media landscape, with efforts being consolidated under larger national broadcasters. This move aligns with broader strategies to streamline operations and focus on modernizing Vietnam’s broadcasting capabilities.

As responsibilities shift to Vietnam Television (VTV), the industry looks ahead to embracing new technologies and methods to meet the evolving demands of audiences.
