On Friday, Four Paws co-operated with authorities in Binh Duong Province to receive the bears from two local farms.

After being rescued, the bears were in stable health condition and transported to Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary.

The animals were also provided medical checks up by the organisation’s experts. They will be quarantined for three weeks at the sanctuary before being released.

This is the higher number of Asian black bears rescued by Four Paws this year. At present, around 385 bears are still being illegally kept across Vietnam.

Ngo Thi Mai Huong, director of Four Paws, said that the organisation would do more to put an end to bear bile farming in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, authorities of the central province of Quang Binh on Friday also released 28 wild animals to the wild.

The animals handed over by local households include monkeys, porcupines and musk cats.
