VietNamNet Bridge - BPhone 2017 is no longer available at The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World). The largest smartphone distribution chain which holds 30 percent of market share has unexpectedly stopped selling BPhone 2017 just 10 months after the ‘blockbuster’ hit the shelves there.

The official website of The Gioi Di Dong says that BKAV’s three major products – BKAV BPhone, BPhone 2017 and BPhone 2017 Gold — are no longer available, Tri Thuc Tre reported.

In a ‘comment’ box, when customers asked about the decision to stop the sale of BPhone 2017, they replied that there were ‘many reasons’. The Gioi Di Dong has not given information about the exact time it will resume the sale.

Some analysts guessed the cooperation between The Gioi Di Dong and BKAV is not smooth and they have to stop the cooperation. Others believe that BPhone 2017 have been pulled off the shelves because the sales went too slowly.

In August 2017, when The Gioi Di Dong announced the sale of BPhone 2017, its senior executives were optimistic about the sale. Tran Kinh Doanh, CEO of The Gioi Di Dong, then said if he still did not have a mobile phone, he would buy a BPhone 2017.

At that time, Doanh said it is a Vietnamese product which ‘caused great resonance’ and the BKAV team is energetic and enthusiastic.

Meanwhile, on tinhte, a forum of hi-tech product fans, some members are optimistic about the product which is called the ‘pride of Vietnamese’.

“This is just a move of the manufacturer to pave the way for the launch of the next-generation BPhone – Bphone 2018,” a member wrote.

However, another member argued that no technology firm would stop the production just 10 months after its products hit the market.

Meanwhile, Zing.vn reported that BKAV Corporation has confirmed the suspension of BPhone 2017 sales. The website quoted Do Thu Hang of BKAV as saying that BKAV has stopped making BPhone 2017 to prepare for the next-generation BPhone.

Hang said BPhone 2017s are nearly running out and there are only a few products reserved for sale under a program that BKAV runs in cooperation with a mobile network operator.
