VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s leading mobile service provider MobiFone has launched a pre-paid Happy Tourist package designed exclusively for foreign visitors to Vietnam, offering data, SMS and call services at an affordable price.

Subscribers will have two options, namely Happy Tourist Data which supplies data and SMS services, and Happy Tourist Voice & Data that supplies calls, SMS and data services with guidelines in English, Chinese, Russian, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. The package costing VND250,000 includes a SIM card and an account worth VND200,000.

The Happy Tourist Data, designed for businesspeople, offers three gigabytes of high-quality 3G data services. Subscribers can send intra-network, trans-network and international text messages for VND290, VND350 and VND2,500 respectively. Its data service costs VND9.77 per 50 kilobytes.

Meanwhile, the Happy Tourist Voice & Data will have 1.5 GB of data and VND80,000 available.

Intra-network, trans-network and international calls cost VND1,580, VND1,780 and VND3,960 per minute. The respective text messages cost VND200, VND250 and VND2,500. It offers data priced at VND25 per 50 kilobytes.

MobiFone said that Happy Tourist is available at airports and popular tourist destinations in Vietnam. Local travel agents can help their customers register for the package.

Suri Wan, a Thai tourist, said that the package is worth around 50 baht (VND250,000), a great saving for his five-day trip in Vietnam. The rate is really affordable compared to those in nearby countries.

“I still use the international roaming service to receive urgent phone calls and messages. For remaining communication needs, I will use the Happy Tourist package to contact my family and friends while staying in Vietnam,” he said.

Nguyen Dinh Chien, deputy general director of MobiFone, said that MobiFone has constantly upgraded its mobile networks and offered various packages to serve customers better.

“We believe that Happy Tourist will meet the growing needs of customers as well as contribute to the development of the country’s tourism industry,” he said.

The packages are not simply to offer visitors special and reasonable rates, but more importantly to provide them with basic services and full and quick information and explanation. If tourists need to know more details about the package, they can even call to the network number 9393 for free information in five languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Khmer.

That service saves visitors from awkward situations caused by language barriers when using Vietnamese mobile phone services. The package rates also protect them from huge phone bills.
