The Ministry of Transport has demanded the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) to make a full answer before December 5 on the power failure at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in HCMC on November 20 which had led to the lost of flight control at the air traffic control center.

CAAV is also required to look into the reason why one passenger jet and a helicopter narrowly missed a mid-air collision late last month. It is urged to cooperate with relevant departments and units to establish an investigation team to find out the reasons for the two incidents.

The ministry requested heads of departments and offices in the aviation sector to recognize those incidents as extremely serious problems threatening flight safety.

Therefore, those authorities have to remedy shortcomings in the management of flight operations and at the same time, tighten management on their staff.

The CAAV also has to review documents related to flight operation management and make suggestions to higher authorities to improve them as well as closely monitor the implementation of those documents.

Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is demanded to strictly follow regulations and procedures on flight safety management, investigate and handle problems causing incidents concerning flight safety, improve the quality of aviation safety management and of air traffic controllers.
