Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra on July 29 chaired the opening ceremony on the examination to select officers to participate in the ministry’s project on "training and fostering young leaders at all levels in 2023-2026, with a vision towards 2030".
Tra, chair of the examination and selection council, emphasized that officials’ affairs are one of the key and important tasks to develop human resources, especially young cadres who are qualified and capable of implementing MHA’s tasks in the immediate and long term.
Being proactive in planning, training and fostering cadres rather than letting officers manage themselves will ensure success. Thorough preparation will help the ministry better select young cadres at all levels who can satisfy requirements to perform the ministry’s tasks.
On May 10, 2023, MHA’s Party Civil Affairs Committee issued a decision approving the project on training and fostering young leaders at different levels for 2023-2026.
Twenty-six cadres, civil servants and public employees have been shortlisted for the testing round. All of them have been praised by leaders of divisions.
Through the test, the ministry will officially select officers to participate in the project.
Every year, the ministry will assess the officers again and find new officers for the project. Those who cannot satisfy the requirements, who don’t make efforts, and cannot do the tasks addressed to them will be excluded from the list for training.
The ministry plans to set up a policy to appoint talented officers to important positions in the ministry.
Tra said candidates attending the test need to give short, concise and clear answers to the questions. The minister and deputy ministers may raise questions and candidates need to go directly to the point within 10 minutes without beating around the bush.
Under MHA’s project, two groups of civil servants and public employees will attend the test. The first one comprises officers who are deputy heads of departments or hold higher positions. They must be below 45 years old. The second comprises officers aged below 40 who are working in units under the ministry.
The officers will be considered and may be appointed to higher positions than their current positions.
