In a shocking development for Vietnam’s online community, popular internet personalities Pham Quang Linh (known as Quang Linh Vlogs) and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang (known as Hang Du Muc), along with three other individuals, have been detained by the Ministry of Public Security for their alleged involvement in the production and sale of counterfeit food supplements, as well as misleading advertising practices.
At a press briefing on April 4, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, confirmed the detention of five suspects in the case. Those arrested include:
Pham Quang Linh, born in 1998, a board member of CER Group (Chi Em Rot Group)
Nguyen Thi Thai Hang, born in 1995, Chairwoman of CER Group
Nguyen Phong, Chairman of Asia Life Corporation
Le Tuan Linh, CEO and legal representative of CER Group
Le Thanh Cong, a board member of CER Group
The investigation, led by the Criminal Police Department in coordination with the Department for Environmental Crimes and provincial police from Dak Lak and Ho Chi Minh City, uncovered that this group was responsible for manufacturing and promoting a dietary supplement called Kera SuperGreens Gummies. The product was heavily marketed online, including livestreams featuring Linh, Hang, and beauty queen Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien.
The influencers claimed that “one gummy equals a plate of vegetables” - a statement that drew public criticism for lacking scientific basis. The product has now been classified by authorities as counterfeit food, in violation of Articles 193 and 198 of the Vietnamese Penal Code.
According to investigators, from December 12, 2024, to March 19, 2025, more than 135,000 boxes of the Kera gummies were sold to consumers. The magnitude and reach of the operation have sparked serious concerns about public health risks and deceptive commercial conduct.
Both Pham Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc have also been fined VND 70 million each (around USD 2,850) by the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information for false advertising. They have been required to publicly correct their misleading statements.
Appeal to buyers and legal outlook
The Ministry of Public Security is calling on all individuals and organizations who purchased the Kera SuperGreens Gummies to contact the Criminal Police Department (Room 3 – C01, 47 Pham Van Dong Street, Cau Giay District, Hanoi; contact investigator Luu Thi Thanh Hieu at 0904.58.2882) for further legal proceedings.
Legal experts caution that the suspects may face sentences ranging from 2 years to life imprisonment, depending on the total financial damage caused. Lawyer Dang Van Cuong from the Hanoi Bar Association emphasized that producing food with falsified information about its origin, composition, and health benefits constitutes a serious criminal offense under Vietnamese law.
Moreover, marketing the product with exaggerated or false health claims amounts to fraudulent business practices. The assertion that one gummy equaled an entire plate of vegetables has become a key piece of evidence in the investigation.
Public reactions and influencer apologies
In the wake of the arrests, both Quang Linh and Hang Du Muc issued public apologies. Linh expressed regret, stating: “I want to apologize to everyone who placed their trust in me and supported me.”
Meanwhile, Hang described the incident as a “grave mistake”, acknowledging that better oversight by her team might have prevented the issue.
In a related development, the provincial authorities of Dak Lak have issued a temporary exit ban for Miss Thuy Tien, as she is also being investigated for her role in the marketing and distribution of the Kera product.
