Speaking at a teleconference on the national master plan in the 2021-2030 period, Minister Dung affirmed that the master plan aimed to help rearrange the country’s development spaces.

The country should be developed consistently and the development will not be impeded by the administrative boundaries. Resources will be mobilized and used effectively for the country’s benefits, the local media reported.

According to Minister Dung, different proposals have been made for the master plan.

Under one proposal, the country should prioritize resources to establish areas of motivation, economic corridors and growth poles in potential regions.

For example, there should be an economic corridor in the east which will be associated with the eastern North-south Expressway and National Highway 1A from Lang Son to Ca Mau, and an economic corridor in the west from Cao Bang to Kien Giang and Ca Mau.

By 2030, the economic corridor in the east will be prioritized.

In addition, the country’s development must be sustainable. Land and natural resources should be used economically and effectively, according to another proposal.

The national master plan will also focus on forming a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, development spaces in association with developing the national urban area system, and green and smart urban areas as well as on enhancing the connectivity between urban and rural areas.

It was also proposed to set up national development spaces by connecting the mainland and maritime areas, participating in important economic corridors in the region and developing the socioeconomy in border areas while ensuring the country’s national defense.

Speaking at the teleconference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh required that the execution of the national master plan must strictly follow a timeframe and ensure quality.

The Government leader also highlighted the need to choose good consultants, while consulting with experts and scientists over the draft plan.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment expected to submit the national master plan to the Government’s Party Civil Affairs Committee this month before sending it to the Politburo in April and the Party Central Committee the next month.

After receiving the comments of these agencies, the Ministry of Planning and Investment will complete the national master plan and submit it to the Government in July and the National Assembly in October for approval.
