VietNamNet Bridge – At least three passengers died and more than 10 others were injured in a tragic coach accident in Quang Nam Province on June 9.
A Mai Linh coach carrying 34 passengers on board crashed into a roadside slope and plunged into a concrete road underneath, landing upside down, when it was travelling along Highway No.1 through Dien An Commune.
On the way to local hospitals, three passengers died, including a nine-year old boy, a 28-year old woman, and a 33-year old man.
Many of the injured were in critical condition as the coach was said to be running at a high speed from the Central Highland city of Buon Ma Thuot to Quang Nam Province.
Local police said there was no sign of any collision between the coach and other vehicles at the scene, and they speculated the coach driver might have exceeded the speed limit and lost his control of the vehicle.
Rescue forces retrieved the wreckage of the coach, clearing the traffic and investigating the cause of the accident.
The Quang Nam administration has provided emergency aid worth VND2 million each for families of the dead victims and VND1 million each for the injuries.
