According to Booking.com’s 2025 Travel Trends Report, 65% of Vietnamese travelers prioritize weather when choosing a destination. As most parts of the country enter a sweltering heatwave during the holiday, cool-climate destinations such as Da Lat (Lam Dong), Mang Den (Kon Plong District, Kon Tum), and Sa Pa (Lao Cai) are drawing a surge of domestic tourists.
The Mang Den Tourism Association reports that the town currently has between 1,200 and 1,300 rooms. As of now, occupancy for the nights of April 30 and May 1 is nearly at 100%.
Tran The Tat, Director of T&T Mang Den Restaurant and Hotel Complex, shared that all 43 of their rooms, bungalows, and homestays are fully booked for those two nights. For May 2 and 3, about 70% of rooms have already been reserved.
"We’ve mobilized nearly 20 staff members and many seasonal workers to prepare for the holiday rush. Room rates range from 400,000 to 1.2 million VND (approx. USD 16 to 48), with holiday surcharges kept under 20%," said Tat.
Le Manh Hung, owner of Nang Homestay Mang Den, noted that all 12 of his rooms were fully booked three weeks ago. The homestay is at 100% occupancy from the night of April 29 through April 30.

“We’re getting numerous calls and messages daily from guests seeking rooms. Since all accommodations in the town are fully booked, I’ve been advising visitors to find lodging in Kon Tum City and travel to Mang Den from there,” Hung said.
Larger, higher-end accommodations like Golden Boutique Hotel Mang Den and De Vivre Homestay Mang Den have also been fully booked for some time.
In addition to its cool climate, Mang Den now offers experiences like cloud hunting and admiring vibrant blooming gardens.
To enhance the holiday experience, Mang Den will host a variety of cultural and tourism events, including a rock concert featuring the band Buc Tuong.
According to Mustgo, a hotel booking platform with over 2,000 partner hotels nationwide, Sa Pa (Lao Cai) is among the most attractive destinations in the North during the holiday.
The Chairman of Sa Pa Town People's Committee said the area expects to welcome 180,000–200,000 visitors during the holiday. Room occupancy currently exceeds 89%, with the 3-star and above segment reaching 97%.
At Silk Path Grand Resort & Spa Sapa, all 152 rooms have been reserved for April 30 and May 1, with limited availability for the remaining holiday days.
This holiday, Sa Pa will hold numerous events to attract visitors, including the Rose Festival, the "Sa Pa - The Colors of Convergence" street festival, and a reenactment of the famed Sa Pa love market.
Aside from Sa Pa and Mang Den, Da Lat (Lam Dong) also remains a popular escape from the heat. However, rising airfare prices are likely to hinder travel from northern provinces.
According to Le Anh Kiet, Head of the Da Lat Department of Culture and Information, hotel occupancy in the city had reached about 70% as of April 23.
Da Lat City authorities report that the city has 2,503 licensed accommodation providers, offering more than 33,000 rooms suitable for tourism.
