On April 14, the city’s Traffic Police Division (PC08) issued several public guidelines for metro passengers, following a wave of inappropriate and offensive behavior by some individuals on board Metro Line No. 1.

According to authorities, recent viral images show acts of poor conduct that have caused discomfort for fellow passengers and could potentially endanger both the individuals involved and those nearby.

One particularly notable incident occurred on the afternoon of March 12, during a trip from the City Opera House Station (District 1) to Binh Thai Station (Thu Duc City), when a man grabbed onto the overhead handrails and metal bars inside the metro car to perform pull-ups. Despite passengers around him voicing objections, he continued his stunt.

A passenger photographed the incident and reported it to metro security staff, but the individual exited the train before staff could intervene.

After reviewing the case, the traffic police worked with Trường Thọ Ward Police in Thu Duc to identify the man as V.T.T., 36, a resident of Thu Duc City.

Authorities stated that his actions constituted public disorder and an intentional breach of public discipline and order, negatively affecting social security and safety.

However, T. had already left Vietnam by the time the investigation began. Officials say they will handle the matter in accordance with the law when he re-enters the country.

This is not the first instance of inappropriate behavior on the metro. Authorities have previously received complaints about offensive or disruptive actions by passengers, causing frustration among other commuters.

The traffic police emphasized that all violations affecting order and safety on public transportation will be strictly handled according to the law. Depending on the severity, offenders may face administrative fines or criminal charges.
