It is being hosted by the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board and the Malaysian Consulate General in the city to offer locals the opportunity to experience Malaysia's rich culinary heritage and traditional culture.
To also be held at Hanoi Daewoo Hotel from September 12 to 16 and Lesung Saigon Restaurant in HCM City from September 11 to 16, the event will offer visitors a chance to savor a variety of dishes prepared by chef Azlan Juri from Malaysia.
They will include rendang (tenderly stewed beef or chicken), satay (grilled skewers of chicken or mutton served with peanut sauce), rojak (mixed salad), chicken/lamb curry, cendol (a shaved ice dessert with green bean), and char kway teow (stir-fried noodles with seafood or meat).
Each dish tells a story of Malaysia's diverse culinary heritage, influenced by Malaysian, Indian and Chinese cuisines.
The event will also showcase Malaysian culture and feature dance performances.
Malaysian Consul-General Firdauz Bin Othman said Vietnam and Malaysia are not only neighbours but also close friends with deep cooperation in many areas like tourism and culture.
“This food week is a clear testament to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.”
Such cultural exchanges would further strengthen their relationship, he added.
With the theme "Straight Outta Malaysia," the food week at Sheraton Saigon Grand Opera Hotel features an international lunch buffet at 790,000 VND (32 USD) per person and a seafood dinner buffet at 1.49 million VND per person.
At Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, with the theme "Taste of Malaysia," there will be lunch and dinner buffets priced at 650,000 VND for adults and 325,000 VND for children./.VNA
