Locked iPhone 11s became available in Vietnam, just one week after the manufacturer officially launched the 2019-generation iPhones.

The owner of a private shop on Nguyen Trai street in Thanh Xuan district, Hanoi advertised that he has iPhone 11 Pro Max 64 GB locked version for sale at VND21.9 million.

The prices are VND24.9 million for the 256 GB and VND25.8 million for the 512 GB versions.

He said the supply is short so the prices will be adjusted in the days to come.

As such, the price of locked iPhone 11 Pro Max is VND15-20 million lower than the price of international version with the same memory capacity.

A private shop on Tran Quang Khai street in district 1, HCMC, is quoting prices of iPhone 11 Pro Max, imported to Vietnam through unofficial channels at VND36.9 million, VND38.9 million and VND45.5 million for 64 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB versions, respectively.

A shop in Hanoi is also selling locked versions of iPhone 11, quoting prices of VND16.2 million for 64 GB version, VND18.2 million for 128 GB and VND19.2 million for 128 GB.

In HCMC, the representative of a shop on 3/2 Road in district 10, said locked versions would be available next week, but he cannot say anything about the prices.

Shop owners said that locked iPhone 11 Pro Max are brought to Vietnam mostly from the US market and have yellow color. There will be Japanese sourced products in some days.

The only advantage of locked products is that they are cheaper than international versions. But they may cause inconvenience to users.

“The weak point of locked versions is the low stability. In the future, Apple will find solutions to neutralize givey sim which can help activate locked versions. If so, locked versions will become useless,” said Hoang Xuan Manh from a shop on Hoang Van Thu street in Tan Binh district, HCMC.

iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max imported through unofficial channels are offered at VND22.9 million, VND33.5 million and VND36.9 million for 64 GB versions.

Retailers said official iPhones reserved for the Vietnamese market (VN/A code) will hit the shelf in late October or November with the predicted prices of VND22 million for iPhone 11, VND31 million for iPhone 11 Pro and VND34 million for iPhone 11 Pro Max.
