Da Nang has consulted with many experts and placed orders with many companies, but has not received advice about an application domain for blockchain technology.
Nguyen Quang Thanh, director of the Department of Information and Communications of Da Nang, said the city has been using IT for the last 20 years in administrative management. Amid the blockchain application trend, in 2018, Da Nang worked with the Institute for Advanced Research in Mathematics, and with Professor Le Quy Tran, the institute gave a presentation on the application of blockchain.
Thanh said local authorities faced difficulties when trying to integrate blockchain technology into a platform to deploy an e-government model.
Da Nang contacted many technology firms and experts, and placed orders with them, but they all finally gave up.
“No one could give advice to the city on which application domain to put blockchain technology in, so as to better serve people, businesses and the government,” Thanh said.
However, after meeting with Huy Nguyen, the co-founder and CEO of Phygital Labs, Da Nang found the answer and has piloted blockchain deployment in corporate and citizen environments.
With support from Ngu Hanh Son district’s leaders, Da Nang has built a Danang Chain and, together with Phygital Labs, deployed technology with businesses and people in Non Nuoc Stone Village to digitize and identify fine art stone products, creating a library of digital assets and posting on the Danang Chain.
According to Thanh, this has helped people easily access technology in a very specific way.
The products present on Danang Chain display show information about the creator, origin, related stories, the manipulation process and the selling prices.
After trial deployment of blockchain at Non Nuoc Village, Da Nang will continue applying the technology in digital government. During the piloting of Danang Chain, state agencies’ data will be put in the cloud and under the management of enterprises, which will ensure reliability and information security.
In the next step, Da Nang will gradually transfer the data infrastructure managed by businesses to the city’s infrastructure, and put the app into use within the framework of digital government.
However, there is still no detailed policy related to the application of blockchain, especially digital assets.
