The Liverpool FC in Vietnam (LFCVN) formed in 2001, on the Vietnam Intelligence online forum. Then, members joined hands to create a common home on the website liverpoolfc.vn just a day before the Champions League final on May 25 2005. On this day, Liverpool made a spectacular effort to swim upstream against AC Milan after and win in the shootout.

According to Vu Manh Tuan, a member of the LFCVN Administration, the first condition to become the Official Fan Club of Liverpool is having at least 15 Memberships of Liverpool. Here is an example of the most active supporters through the activities of promoting, buying souvenirs and media.

"Having enough the memberships and many promoting activities, we have succeeded in persuading Liverpool to recognize the first official fan club in Vietnam," Tuan said.

In Southeast Asia, apart from Vietnam, Liverpool has recognized official fan clubs in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei and Myanmar.

Tuan said, it was not until 2010, when it was strong enough, the LFCVN contacted with the Anfield club. Over a long period of verification and assessment, Liverpool earlier this year agreed to.

Liverpool fans in Viet Nam is the latest Fan Club in Asia, after Qatar, Shanghai, Singapore and Thailand.

As the official Fan Club, LFCVN will receive varied support from England. According to Tuan, the former Champions League FC can send gifts to charity auctions, send players, former players to attend events in Vietnam, offer official discounts for purchasing items for Vietnamese fans, etc.

According to Tuan, the LFCVN has thought about inviting Liverpool to Vietnam for friendly matches. The only obstacle in this plan is the financial problems. Tuan said, if they find a donor, Liverpool will probably play at least one game in Vietnam in the next three or five years.

LFCVN now has over 13,000 members.
