VietNamNet Bridge - Since the beginning of the rainy season, four people in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum have been killed by lightning. Another 15 have been injured.

On Sunday afternoon, Mr. A Dim, Vice Chairman of Dak To Lung Commune in the Kon Ray District of Kon Tum, told reporters that in the latest case last Thursday, 13 people were struck by lightning. One died and the remaining 12 were injured. By Sunday, all those hurt were still in the hospital.

According to A Dim, the 12 victims are members of the youth union of Kon Mang Tu village. These young people were planting cassava for a poor family in the village when a thunderstorm struck. They hid themselves in a hut on the field. The hut was struck by lightning, killing one 32-year-old man on the spot and injuring another 12. All were brought to the hospital.

In previous cases, three people have died and three others were injured by lightning in Kon Tum. In all cases, the victims had tried to escape the rainstorms by hiding themselves in huts on hills.
