The Light Up art event introduced Vietnamese culture to keen French children.

The event took place across three French cities including Nantes, Saint Herblain, and Quimperlé between June 24 and July 2.

It featured three main activities; a painting exhibition titled “Light up” that aims to assist disadvantaged children in Vietnam, a French-Vietnamese concert, and art sessions that help children learn more about Vietnamese culture.

The painting exhibition received more than 500 artworks from a number of countries, including the United States, France, and Vietnam. The best 200 paintings among them were selected to be showcased at the event.

After the event in France, the paintings are set to be brought to Vietnam to be displayed at an international exhibition that will take place in Hanoi in late July. All of the money raised from the exhibition is to go towards charitable purposes.

During the one-week Light Up art event, art workshops were organised in Joliverie School, Sainte Marie primary school, Pauline Kergomard kindergarten, Condorcet children culture centre, and Minh Long Saint Herblain martial arts association, which saw the participation of approximately 1,000 French students and their parents.

Elsewhere, a French-Vietnamese concert took place in Saint Herblain on June 27 and featured traditional Vietnamese ethnic dances.
