Vietnam’s top chess player Le Quang Liem has drawn with M.Paragua from the host Philippines in the sixth round of the Asian Continental Chess Championships.   

After his draw, Liem gained 4.5 points, dropping from third to fifth position in the tournament rankings.

Also in the men’s event, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Nguyen Van Huy also had a draw with rivals, while Dao Thien Hai won, but Nguyen Duc Hoa and Tran Tuan Minh failed.

In the women’s event, Pham Le Thao Nguyen beat M.Antoinettte (the Philippines) to join the leading group with 4.5 points.

In the same round, Nguyen Thi Thanh An, Le Thanh Tu and Nguyen Thi Mai Hung were held to a draw, but Hoang Thi Bao Tram failed.

The seventh round is scheduled for May 24.
