“I want the younger generation to take over the playing field,” Trinh said.
“Currently, I am only playing for HCM City 1 club. I have put a lot of thought into my decision. I have a plan for my future. After finishing the first leg of the National Championship in June, I will join the coach training course organised by the Asian Football Federation and Vietnamese Football Federation in Da Nang City,” she added.
In April, Trinh was awarded the Labour Order, third class, for her significant contribution to women’s and national football.
The 33-year-old from southern Dong Thap Province has participated in the Southeast Asian Games five times, in three of which her team won gold medals (2005, 2009 and 2017).
Trinh also won several awards of the Southeast Asian Women’s Football, including two gold medals in 2006 and 2012, two silver medals in 2008 and 2016, and three bronze medals in 2007, 2011 and 2013. She also won three Golden Balls for Best Player of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2017.
