On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China (January 18, 1950 – January 18, 2025), high-ranking leaders of both nations exchanged congratulatory messages and letters, reaffirming the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong exchanged letters and messages with Chinese President and General Secretary Xi Jinping.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh corresponded with Chinese Premier Li Qiang, while National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man exchanged messages with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China.
In addition, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Do Van Chien exchanged letters with Wang Huning, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Senior officials such as Le Hoai Trung, Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam's External Relations Commission, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son also exchanged congratulatory messages with their Chinese counterparts.
In their messages, Vietnam’s leaders emphasized the historical significance of the past 75 years. They highlighted the stable and trusting political relationship between the two nations, the deepening ties between their peoples, and the substantive cooperation that has delivered tangible benefits to both countries.
Vietnam expressed its appreciation for China’s valuable support during critical periods of history and reaffirmed its commitment to developing a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China as a top priority in its independent, autonomous, and multilateral foreign policy.
The leaders of both countries agreed on the necessity of strengthening their shared vision for a “Community with a Shared Future,” which holds strategic importance for the happiness of their peoples and the peace, stability, and progress of humanity.
Chinese leaders, in their congratulatory messages, emphasized the historical solidarity between the two nations during the struggles for national independence and liberation, often characterized as the “comradeship and brotherhood” of Vietnam and China. They acknowledged the shared socialist ideals and the commitment to deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation in various fields.
The Vietnamese and Chinese embassies also hosted celebratory events, including a banquet held on January 17 in Hanoi, attended by Nguyen Xuan Thang, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics.
Thang noted that despite historical challenges, unity and cooperation remain the defining features of Vietnam-China relations. He praised the cooperative achievements of 2024 and reiterated that fostering a stable, sustainable relationship with China is a strategic choice and a priority for Vietnam’s foreign policy.
Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo highlighted the historic milestones in bilateral relations and emphasized the enduring "comradeship and brotherhood" nurtured by Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong as the foundation for the future.
He reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Vietnam to deepen practical cooperation, promote mutual understanding, and advance their comprehensive strategic partnership.
