VietNamNet Bridge – Top Vietnam chess star Le Quang Liem, with elo points of 2702, is ranked 45th out of the world’s best 100 players in the latest FIDE rankings for September, down three notches from August.

In stark contrast, the website 2700chess.com which is dedicated to monitoring the live ratings of the top chess players in the world has Liem ranked at 35th in the world with ten bonus elo points.
The discrepancy in rakings is because the exceptional performance of Liem at the 2013 Men’s World Chess Cup, which concludes today, won’t be factored into the FIDE ratings until next month’s October ratings are released.
Pham Le Thao Nguyen, rated 73rd, was the only Vietnam female player listed in the world’s top 100 women.
Three other Vietnam players made the world’s top 100 girls list including Nguyen Thi Mai Hung (43rd), Vo Thi Kim Phung (47th) and Hoang Thi Nhu Y (53rd).
