Featuring the HBSO Ballet & Symphony Orchestra, the program will invite viewers to the stage to join dances of Waltz, Tango, Mambo and Polka.
The concert will be kicked off by the Overture from operetta “Die Fledermaus” of Johann Strauss. The waltz rhythms intersperse with the joyful marches, making this overture stay loved over time. After the emotional “Slavonic Dance No.2” of Antonin Dvorak, there will be a jubilant Spanish dance in “Carmen”, one of the best operas of all times. The Overture of “Carmen” has been performed worldwide. HBSO’s dancers in colorful Spanish costumes will be responsible for this dance.
The Skaters’s Waltz of French composer Émile Waldteufel will be an interesting surprise. It has alluring harmony and sweet and warm rhythm.
The program will continue with the Hungarian Dance No.6 of Johannes Brahms along with an old Armenia dance in “Sabre Dance” from ballet Gayane by great Russian composer Aram Khachaturian. HBSO’s dancers will take the stage with Tango, dancing to the rhythm of “Blue Tango” of the 20th century American composer Leroy Anderson.
Three of the most famous works of Strauss will be performed starting with “Egyptian March” which was written to mark the year the Suez Canal was completed and opened. It immediately attracted great interest in Vienna and Europe as a whole. The Polka “Thunder and Lightning” will follow up with fast and explosive rhythms. “The Blue Danube” will change the atmosphere so that the audience can dance to the most famous pieces of the King of Waltz.
The ending dance will be the most sexy, modern Broadway “Can Can” from “Orpheus in the Underworld” of German-born French composer Jacques Offenbach. Dancers in charming dresses will take the stage for this genetic dance and end the performance in joy.
Tickets to the show are priced at VND550,000, VND400,000, VND350,000, VND200,000 and VND80,000 (students only). For bookings and delivery, call 08 38237419 or contact Ms. Huong on 0989 874 517 or Ms. Ly on 0903 604 539.
