On the afternoon of April 19, the Hue City Military Command, in coordination with local authorities, hosted a welcoming ceremony for the Lao People's Army delegation at Terminal 2 of Phu Bai International Airport.
Upon arrival, the Lao troops were welcomed with warm hospitality, guided through boarding procedures for their flight to Ho Chi Minh City, and treated to light refreshments featuring Hue’s traditional specialties.
Earlier this April, Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense extended official invitations to military units from China, Laos, and Cambodia to participate in the upcoming military parade. Formal letters were also sent to the defense leaders of these nations, inviting them to attend the commemoration ceremony.
The April 30 celebration is a significant national event for Vietnam, marking half a century since the reunification of North and South. It also serves as a shared moment of pride with international allies who supported Vietnam’s revolutionary struggle. Vietnam continues to recognize and deeply value the profound support offered by countries such as China, Laos, and Cambodia.
In recent years, defense cooperation between Vietnam and its three closest neighbors has grown steadily. Key areas of collaboration include personnel exchanges, military training, joint exercises, and border defense engagements.
The main parade will take place on the morning of April 30 along Le Duan Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City. It will feature military and police units, militia forces, civilian organizations, and guest contingents. Around 13,000 people are expected to participate in the parade.
