A car crashed into a tractor-trailer on National Highway 1A which runs through Huu Lung District’s Hoa Lac Communea road in Lang Son province on October 31, leaving five people dead and many others injured.
At 2:10 a.m. on National Highway 1A’s km70+800, a 16-seater bus crashed into a semi-trailer which was broken and parked on the same side of the road. The bus then continued to collide with a container truck that was travelling in the opposite direction.
The 16-seat car was transporting a group of people to Hanoi when it collided with the tractor-trailer carrying cement. As a result, four passengers died on the spot, while another died while being taken to hospital. In addition, nine other injured passengers were taken to the hospital to receive treatment.
All of the victims were from Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
Nine others who were injured in the accident are being treated at Chi Lang Hospital in Lang Son and Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi.
Upon receiving information, local authorities and relevant agencies from Huu Lung District arrived at the scene. They organised traffic diversions, provided guidance to motorists, and cleared the accident site.
At 5am on Tuesday, the provincial leadership of Lạng Sơn set up an inspection team to inspect the accident site and visit the victims receiving medical care at the Chi Lang and Huu Lung district hospitals.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
