VietNamNet Bridge – Miss Sports Lai Huong Thao will represent Vietnam at the Miss World 2013 beauty contest held in Indonesia in September. Elite Vietnam is completing procedures to get the Performing Arts Agency’s license for Thao.

Thao’s personal information and portrait are now published on the websites of the Miss World pageant and Global Beauties, a reputed site on international beauty contests.

The information has made controversies because Miss World is one of the biggest international pageants and the representative of Vietnam must be excellent in both beauty and knowledge.

Elite Vietnam’s manager Thuy Nga said that Lai Huong Thao was selected by the organizers of Miss World 2013 pageant, from several girls nominated by Elite Vietnam.

The Performing Arts Agency said that they had not licensed any girl to represent Vietnam at this beauty contest this year. Meanwhile, Thuy Nga said Elite Vietnam was completing the records for Thao.

"We have to wait for official confirmation from the organizers of Miss World 2013 to complete the records to submit to the Performing Arts Agency and then we will provide new information to the press," said Thuy Nga.

According to Thuy Nga, the selection of Vietnamese contestants for the 2013 Miss World was conducted by Elite Vietnam from early this year. Besides Lai Huong Thao, other beauties were also nominated by Elite Vietnam.

Thuy Nga said Miss Vietnam 2012 Dang Thi Thu Thao and Miss Vietnam 2010 Dang Ngoc Han did not want to participate in the contest. Miss Vietnam Ethnic Nguyen Ngoc Anh was just crowned so she was not ready to compete at such a big pageant.

Thao was crowned Miss Sport 2012.

The Queen of Jewelry pageant does not take place yet while the Queen of the Sea pageant had its license revoked for violating regulations.

Thuy Nga said Miss Vietnam 2008 Thuy Dung has reached her best conditions in terms of beauty and knowledge, but she was crowned Miss Vietnam a long time ago and her studying “scandal” has affected her image in the eyes of the public.

Miss Sports 2012 Lai Huong Thao was born in 1991. She was also the first runner-up of the Miss Ha Long 2012 pageant.

After Miss Sports 2012, Thao took part in the Miss Supranational 2012 in Poland and entered the semi-final.
