The surgery was conducted by two doctors - Tran Van Hien of the Kon Tum Hospital and Tran Thanh Tri of HCM City’s Children's Hospital 2. The doctors said the surgery was relatively simple because the conjoined parts were not complicated.

Dr. Vo Van Thanh, Director of Kon Tum General Hospital, said according to the tests before the surgery the two baby conjoined in the abdominal muscles and skin, not inside organs. It was also anticipated by doctors before the surgery. Thanks to this, the surgery succeeded after two hours.

Before the surgery, the twins were fed and they were in very good condition, doctors Thanh said.

The conjoined twins were born on July 1 by a 31-year-old woman from Ro Bang 2 village, Vinh Quang Commune, Kon Tum City. This is her third time of pregnancy.

Previously, the woman had an ultrasound scan but doctors did not detect the conjoined twins. The woman was instructed to give birth normally.

This is a rare case of conjoined twins born by normal delivery method. Normally, with conjoined twin cases that are diagnosed early, doctors will intervene by cesarean to ensure the safety of both mother and children.
