The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has appointed Vietnam national team head coach Kim Sang Sik to manage the ASEAN All-Stars in a highly anticipated friendly match against English Premier League giants Manchester United.

“Leading the best players from across ASEAN in such a meaningful match is a great honor. We’re not only representing our own nations - we’re showcasing the pride, spirit, and strength of our entire region to the world,” Coach Kim Sang Sik said after being named to the role by the AFF.

The South Korean coach was selected based on his outstanding leadership in guiding Vietnam to the 2024 AFF Cup championship. Born in 1976, Kim has impressed both for his tactical acumen and his strict discipline, as well as his ability to inspire players.

AFF President Khiev Sameth stated, “Coach Kim Sang Sik is a symbol of progress and professionalism. His leadership will inspire not only the players on the field but also an entire generation of athletes and fans.”

The ASEAN All-Stars vs. Manchester United match is scheduled for May 28 at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia.

Regarding team selection, AFF and Coach Kim will call up the top talents from AFF member federations. As the reigning AFF Cup champions, Vietnam is expected to contribute a significant number of players to this meaningful showcase.
