A sluice in the Mekong Delta region. The government of Kien Giang Province has approved a project to build 18 sluices at a cost of over VND1.48 trillion

A source from the provincial government noted that these sea sluices will be built in An Minh, An Bien, Chau Thanh and Kien Luong districts in the 2019-2023 period.

An Bien District and An Minh District will have eight new sluices each, whereas one new sluice will be built in Kien Luong District and another in Chau Thanh District. The total area of land needed for the project is estimated at 114,146 square meters.

The Kien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will be the investor for the project.

The project is also aimed at preventing salinity intrusion from threatening many districts in the province, such as An Bien, An minh, U Minh Thuong, Vinh Thuan, Chau Thanh, Kien Luong, Giang Thanh and Hon Dat, and boosting the growth of the agriculture sector. SGT
