Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 winner H’Hen Nie has successfully made it to the top five in the global Miss Universe 2018, which concluded in Bangkok, Thailand on December 17.
Her position is the best record that a Vietnamese representative has made during the prestigious beauty pageant’s history so far.
H’Hen Nie was born into an ethnic minority family in the Central Highlands region. During her childhood, the now 26-year-old beauty queen used to labour in heaving farming work after school.
When in seventh grade, H’Hen Nie had to work alongside her aunty to make ends meet. While her friends in the Ede ethnic community dropped out for marriage, she strived to finish high school.
Ever since claiming the crown of Miss Universe Vietnam, H’Hen Nie has always exerted efforts to live up to the prestigious title.
Her performance in the beauty arena has wowed not only Vietnamese people, but also the global community as her twirl in her evening gown at the semifinal night on December 13 were shared widely online with a barrage of compliments.
She has surprised her fans by reaching the top five and delivering a confident answer for the personality interview about the Me Too movement surrounding sexual assault in the workplace.
Having gone through a long journey with lots of challenges, H’Hen Nie has proved herself a shining example of the great and constant effort required to overcome difficulties and strive for one’s dreams./. –VNA
