The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force’s training ship Suzunami, equipped with surface-to-surface missile systems and HOS-302 torpedoes on both flanks, arrived at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang today (March 31) for a four-day official visit.

The welcome ceremony was attended by representatives from the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, Naval Region 3 Command, Border Guard Command, and the city’s Military Command.

During its four-day stay in Da Nang (March 31 to April 3), the 230-member delegation - comprising officers and sailors aboard the Suzunami and led by Captain Mizuno Tatsuhito - will pay courtesy visits to the Da Nang People’s Committee and Naval Region 3 Command. The crew will also meet and interact with officers and soldiers from the region.

The program includes joint training exercises with Vietnam’s Naval Region 3 Command and various maritime logistics operations.

This visit is part of the ongoing bilateral cooperation between the naval forces of Japan and Vietnam, aimed at strengthening the friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

The ship is armed with a full range of anti-submarine warfare equipment, including a patrol helicopter, cannons, anti-aircraft guns, torpedo launchers, and mines.
