The ship with a tonnage of 3,500 tons is commanded by Naomi Kawakami with 82 sailors and trainees, including trainees from the Philippines and Singapore.

In the five-day visit, the commander and crew of the ship will meet with Da Nang officials and leaders of the Vietnam Marine Police and have an exchange with officials and soldiers of the Coast Guard Region 2 at the Ky Ha Port in Quang Nam Province.

The visit of the Japanese vessel took place in the context of the two countries Vietnam - Japan are organizing many activities to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This is the next event after the successful visits to Vietnam by a vessel and a plane of the Japanese Coast Guard last year and early this year.

Earlier, in September 2012, the Shikishima vessel of 6,500 tons of the Japan Coast Guard visited Hai Phong Port and participated in a rescue rehearsal with Vietnam Marine Police and Vietnam Maritime Administration.

In March of this year, the plane of the Japan Coast Guard flew to Ho Chi Minh City and had a meeting with the Marine police Region 3 in Vung Tau City.
