MobiFone introduces Opera Mini browser
With the aim to connecting more people to the Internet, MobiFone has introduced a data package for Opera Mini web browser that allows users access at very high-speeds at reasonable prices.
For VND15,000 (US$0.75) per month, customers can access the Internet through Opera Mini without limit, but the service does not include video or online music.
Opera Mini has over 190 million users around the world and Viet Nam is considered one of five nations with the highest number of people using the browser. Thanks to special data pushing technology, Opera Mini helps increase download speed by six times, enabling users to access the Internet even without smart phones.
Official BlackBerry store opens in HCM City
The Research In Motion (RIM) company opened its BlackBerry by Smartcom Lifestyle Store at the Vincom A building in HCM City on Wednesday.
The store will provide all versions of BlackBerry with a warranty of 18 months along skilled technicians to support for customers.-
Vietnamobile rewards loyal customers
Vietnamobile has just launched a promotion to thank its customers for their loyalty.

FPT launches Nokia Lumia series
The Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) group has begun selling the Nokia Lumia series including 920 and 820 nationwide.
Running on Window Phone 8, Lumia 920 provides wireless charging, super sensitive touch, 32Gb for inside memory, HD quality and against-shake for image. It is sold at VND14 million ($650).
Sony products to offer more online features
Sony Electronics Viet Nam will provide online entertainment service with OTT (Over the Top) technology for Sony's smart electronic products in Viet Nam.
This will be made possible thanks to a co-operation agreement the company signed recently with the Dragon Multimedia Technology Joint Stock company (DMMT).
With the co-operation, Vietnamese customers will have chance to enjoy online multimedia entertainment services with copyright for TV series, movies, music video, news and other live broadcasting programmes. DMMT's products is in line with all internet connected devices, including smart TV, laptop, PC, smart phone, tablet.
Zing Blog attracts Yahoo users
The new Zing blogging service (blog.zing.vn), developed on the blog foundation of the social network Zing Me, will allow Yahoo Blog users to convert their current accounts to Zing Blog accounts after Yahoo officially ends its blog service.
Nguyen Van Duc Trong, a senior executive of Zing Me, said on ICTnews online that plans for a blog service had been formulating since the social network's inception. With 500,000 entries and 2 million bloggers a month - 42 per cent of them young people aged 18-25 - the Zing Me community is rapidly expanding.
Ha Noi ranks 21st in software outsourcing
Ha Noi ranks 21st among the 100 best cities for software outsourcing, according to a report from outsourcing advisory firm Tholons.
Offering both a qualified labour force and low labour costs, Viet Nam has great potential to provide software outsourcing services, the report says.
Although the country's share in the international software outsourcing market remains modest, Viet Nam's participation in the arena has brought many benefits to domestic businesses. Sales have increased, new jobs have been created and companies have been able to implement the latest technology.
City authorities say the city will focus on developing digital content services, attaching special importance to filling gaps in the global IT service market. The capital city has already attracted over 340 foreign investment projects in the field of information technology with total registered capital of $1.8 billion.
MobiFone joins Bridge Alliance
Vietnamese mobile service provider MobiFone has become the 12th member of the Bridge Alliance (BA), joining 11 other leading mobile operators in the Asia-Pacific region.
MobiFone’s membership will increase the BA’s total subscribers to more than 450 million.
MobiFone General Director Mai Van Binh expressed his delight at joining the largest Asia-Pacific alliance for mobile carriers.
It demonstrates MobiFone’s commitment to offering customers innovative products and services, especially regarding international roaming and flexible solutions for transnational businesses.
BA will grant MobiFone access to leading technical services and the opportunity to cooperate with other Asian mobile firms, he added.
BA CEO Alessandro Adriani said MobiFone’s entrance is an important milestone for the alliance, destined to help its customers profit from an expanded international roaming service and contracts, linking multinational enterprises over a larger geological area.
Established in 1993, MobiFone is the first GMS mobile operator in Vietnam to use the 900/1800 frequency.
It has won the most popular mobile network title for six successive years since 2005 and currently has over 35 million subscribers.
