Nguyen Truong Son, a man in Pleiku City of Gia Lai province, reportedly possesses an elephant tusk worth $2 million.

The four pieces of tusk Son has weigh 24 kilos in total and 1.26 meters in length. Scientists believe that this is just the top of the original tusk. According to the Vietnam Archaeology Institute, the ivory fossil dates back to 19,450 years BC. Son said the tusk is original also because there are tiny colorful particles on it.

Domestic and foreign businessmen have contacted Son, asking to buy the tusk.

“A foreign businessman offered to buy it at $2 million. However, I refused to sell it, because there are many things I still need to do with it,” Son said.

The man retains the tusk because he wants to learn more about it and try to find the remaining parts of it.

The fossil tree in Thanh Hoa

The owner of the special tree is Hoang Van Ngoc in Ba Thuoc district of the central province of Thanh Hoa. The tree was found in a mountain cave in 1999-2000. The tree was originally very big. However, as people had to saw it to make it portable, it broke into several parts. The broken parts were then conjoined to form up a fully constituted tree.

The owner of the tree said one businessman wanted to buy the tree for $3 million, but he refused the deal.

“I don’t know what the money would bring to me and my family members. But I am sure there is no other special tree in Vietnam.” he explained.

However, Ngoc feels worried when retaining the tree. He feared that his life and his family members’ lives would be dangerous because evildoers may try every possible means to appropriate the precious thing.

In May 2013, a lot of local people flocked to Tra Van Duong’s house in Tuy An district of Phu Yen province to be able to see with their eyes the fossil section of a tree trunk Duong accidentally found in the field.

It had the length of 1.2 meters and biggest diameter of 50 cm. The stem was milky colored, covered by the grey brown color. There were many black borders along the trunk. It was as hard and shiny as stone.

Nguyen Duc Chinh in Ha Dong district in Hanoi is now the owner of a set of teeth of mammoth. The whole set of teeth weighs 7-8 kilos. Chinh said he found the precious thing when visiting a antique shop in 2002 and bought it at $10,000.

“At that time, $10,000 was worth of a fortune. A friend of mine tried to advise against buying it, but I liked it so much that I decided to have it at any cost,” he said.

Chinh does not intend to sell the precious thing and refuses to have it analyzed, but his house’s door always keeps open to receive visitors.
